Citations
Citations is a managed business-listing add-on. It publishes your business details across 50+ online directories, monitors every listing for accuracy, and keeps them in sync with your Google Business Profile — so your name, address, and phone are consistent everywhere customers and AI search look for you.
Benefits of Citations
- Higher local rankings. Consistent citations are a top local ranking factor, so accurate listings across the network help you rank in Google's local results.
- Found beyond Google. You show up on the maps, social platforms, review sites, and directories customers actually use — not just Google.
- More visible in AI search. The same data networks feed AI search results, so consistent listings improve your visibility there too.
- Consistent, trusted details. One accurate name, address, and phone everywhere builds trust with search engines and means customers never reach a wrong number or outdated address.
- Hands-off and time-saving. Your Google Business Profile keeps every listing in sync automatically, so there's no managing 50+ directories by hand.
- Problems caught early. Mismatches and failed publishes are flagged before they cost you ranking.
What enabling Citations does
When you turn Citations on for a location, four things happen automatically:
- Publishes your listing. Your business name, address, phone, website, email, category, and description are distributed to 50+ directories.
- Monitors accuracy. A real-time dashboard tracks every listing and gives you an overall Listing Accuracy percentage across all directories.
- Auto-syncs with your GBP. Your connected Google Business Profile is the source of truth, so listings re-sync daily and immediately whenever your GBP changes.
- Flags mismatches. Anything that doesn't match or fails to publish is surfaced as Needs Attention before it costs you ranking.
Consistent citations are a top local ranking factor, so this improves your visibility in both traditional search and AI search results. Most businesses see a lift in 7–14 days — a typical timeline rather than a guarantee, since results depend on your market and starting point.
Where you get listed
We distribute to 50+ directories across the network that feeds Google Maps and AI search:
- Maps & search — Google Business Profile, Google Maps, Apple Maps, Bing Places, Here, TomTom.
- Social — Facebook, Instagram, X / Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube.
- Reviews — Yelp, Foursquare, Trustpilot.
- Data networks — the B2B aggregators that feed many downstream sites, including Neustar, Factual, Infogroup, Data Axle, Localeze, and Acxiom.
- Directories — MapQuest, Yellow Pages, CitySearch, SuperPages, Chamber of Commerce, and more.
Reading the accuracy dashboard
The dashboard shows an overall Listing Accuracy percentage and puts each listing in one of three states:
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Live | Published and matching across the directory. |
| In Progress | Submitted and awaiting confirmation from the directory. |
| Needs Attention | A mismatch or failed publish we flag for you to fix. |
Staying in sync with your Google Business Profile
Your connected Google Business Profile drives every listing, so you don't manage each directory by hand:
- Pre-filled setup. Your details are pulled from your connected GBP, so there's minimal manual entry to get started.
- Auto-sync, daily and on change. Listings re-sync on a daily monitoring cycle, and immediately whenever your GBP phone, name, address, or website changes.
- Manual Sync All. Need an update pushed right now? Run Sync All anytime and we flag any mismatch.
You don't need the Google Business Profile product to use Citations — it can run standalone or be bundled with GBP management so everything stays in sync. Either way, setup pre-fills from a connected Google Business Profile.
Pricing
Citations is $25/mo per location, billed monthly and added to your existing plan. Turning it on mid-cycle is prorated for the days remaining and then aligns to your regular billing date, so everything renews together on one invoice. Cancel anytime — see Billing & proration for how mid-cycle changes and credits work.
